Wow, what a year! 2015 has been a time of incredible growth for Just Bread. Thanks to the wonderful support of our partners, supporters, customers and trainees we’ve delivered 20 weeks of training, and 2 new groups of trainees have become Just Bread graduates. And that was just the bread and butter! From film festivals to international press interviews, new opportunities have taken the project to another level, and for that we owe a whole lot of thanks…

Our fantastic ongoing collaboration with E5 Bakehouse has gone from strength to strength in 2015, in particular down to the hard work of our friends Ben and Jean at the Bakehouse, who have developed a very special training programme that equips our bakers with both the practical skills and inspiration they need to become professionals. Our thanks go out to the whole team at E5 who have made the group feel so welcome every week of their training and have gone out of their way to support the the project in all sorts of ways.

The range of opportunities for Just Bread trainees has really grown this year and for that our thanks go out to Secret Cinema for the chance to deliver up our lovely grub to their hoards of hungry Star Wars fans, to E5 Bakehouse for the opportunities for trainees to become part of their staff team, and to the Goring Hotel for welcoming us in to the world of high-end hospitality. We are looking forward to building on this incredible success in 2016, so that Just Bread continues to grow its reputation as a supportive and encouraging step into employment for London’s refugee women.

Our special thanks go out to all of the media organisations who have helped to raise awareness of Just Bread’s work in 2015 and whose articles have helped to highlight the difficulties of integration for refugee women in London. From Al Jazeera, to the Guardian, to the Hackney Gazette, it has been wonderful to receive so much interest and support in our work and we look forward to providing many more news-worthy stories in the new year!

It goes without saying that none of this would have been possible without the enthusiasm, dedication and inspiration of our wonderful Just Bread trainees, who are the life of the project. Thank you so much for your hard work this year. We are so excited to be taking our next steps with you all.

And of course a very big thank you to all of you individuals who have supported Just Bread through signing up to our bread subscription, attending events, sharing our tweets, reading our blog posts and spreading the word to friends. We’re looking forward to sharing the adventure with you all as we move into 2016- watch this space for more info on new opportunities to get more involved!
